5-Amino-1MQ

5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), a metabolic enzyme that catalyzes the methylation of nicotinamide using the universal methyl donor S-adenosyl methionine, directly linking one-carbon metabolism with a cell's methylation balance and NAD+ levels. ^[1] NNMT is emerging as a key point of intersection between cellular metabolism and epigenetic gene regulation, and abnormal activation of the enzyme can disrupt the balance between energy and methylation potential, fueling diseases such as diabetes, obesity, fibrosis, and cancer. ^{[1] [2]}
